Katie Jane Morrell

Katie Jane (KJ) Morrell is interested in creating education programs that encourage inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable communities. She was actively involved in the launch and strategic planning of the UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Sustainability, and currently manages the Centre's ongoing operations, online course development, as well as the Summer Institute in Sustainability Leadership and the Certificate in Decision Making for Climate Change.

Ms. Morrell began her work with UBC Continuing Studies at the Centre for Intercultural Communication, where she assumed teaching, coordination, and curriculum development positions for a variety of programs geared toward international professionals, graduates and undergraduate students.

Ms. Morrell has international work and travel experience in Africa, Europe and Asia. She is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR BC) quarterly publication, which focuses on themes relating to social justice, cross-cultural conflict resolution, and trends in the field of intercultural studies.

KJ holds an MEd from the University of British Columbia, with a specialization in Adult Learning and Global Change. She also completed a Certificate in Intercultural Studies from UBC, a BEd from Queen’s University, and a BA (Hons.) from Queen’s.
