About the Centre for Sustainability

The UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Sustainability (CSCS) leverages academic expertise from across UBC and collaborates with other academic institutions, government agencies, businesses and community groups to develop and deliver sustainability education. The Centre is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs for sustainability education for lifelong learners.

Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for empowering people and mobilizing ideas, resources and organizations to help encourage sustainable communities, locally and globally. In pursuit of this mission, we commit to engage and inform adult learners by developing relevant and inspirational educational programs that responds to the emerging opportunities, challenges and needs in the field of sustainability, and that leverage expertise and relationships from UBC and the wider community.

Our values guide the CSCS and are critical to our success:

  • Innovation: We strive to create innovative programs that make a positive impact on individuals and organizations while promoting the values of a sustainable society.
  • Collaboration: We leverage existing relationships within the UBC community and build partnerships with the external community, both locally and globally.
  • Caring: We care about the health of the planet and the social well-being of current and future generations in a respectful, transparent and accountable way.
