Welcome
The Continuing Studies Centre for Sustainability (CSCS) reaches beyond the UBC campus to offer innovative courses and programs that have a positive impact on society and its institutions.
Our current programming includes:

Summer Institute in Sustainability, a one-week intensive program focused on developing organization-wide leadership, strategies and policies around sustainability. |

Summer Institute in Sustainable Urban Design: Natural Systems and the Built Environment,
a week-long event for architects, planners and developers designing and building sustainable buildings, neighbourhoods, cities and regions. |

Certificate in Decision Making for Climate Change, an online program providing students with the most up-to-date knowledge on climate literacy, policy, mitigation, and adaptation. |

Sustainability Management, courses for individuals who wish to take the lead in helping to build sustainability into their communities and organizations. |

Sustainability Lectures & Debates, which address the challenges of building a sustainable future. Many talks are available for download as free podcasts. |
The CSCS team is working to develop programs and courses which contribute to sustainable practices and respond to emerging trends in the field.

| FILM SCREENING On January 19, 2010 CSCS hosted a screening of the climate change sci-fi docu-drama ‘The Age of Stupid’ followed by a lively panel discussion examining potential actions against climate change. The event was a great success with over 250 attendees!
AWARD We are pleased to announce that our annual Summer Institute in Sustainability was honoured with an ‘Outstanding Programming Award’ at the University Continuing Education Association (UCEA) Region West Conference.
SUSTAINABLE CITIES Mike Harcourt sounds off on the challenges of population growth in cities, and the drastic changes needed to prevent an ‘urban tsunami’. Read The Tyee article 'Tsunami' of City Dwellers a Global Threat.
ONLINE We are now accepting applications for the 100% online Certificate in Decision Making for Climate Change program. The next cohort begins Spring 2010.
NEW We are pleased to announce the UBC Award of Achievement in Sustainability Management which launched September 2009.
