ALISON ACHESON’s young adult novel, Mud Girl, was a finalist for the Canadian Library Association’s Young Adult Book of the Year. Her book Grandpa’s Music was placed on the IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) list of Books for Children with Disabilities.

JANE HAMILTON has worked as an editor and writer for many years. Her fiction and poetry is published under her nom de plume (Jane Silcott) in a variety of literary journals, and she has won a CBC literary award and a Room magazine award for her creative non-fiction.

UBC Community Borrower's Library Card

Summer institute participants will be entitled to receive a FREE UBC Community Borrower Card (a $40 value). This card gives you access to one of Canada’s largest research libraries and allows you to borrow books in person from any of the UBC Point Grey Campus libraries as well as the libraries at UBC Robson Square and UBC Okanagan.

To obtain your UBC Library card, go to either the Koerner or UBC Robson Square library with one piece of government issued picture ID, proof of address and a copy of your receipt showing registration in a UBC Continuing Studies summer institute.
