Services

In addition to courses and programs, UBC Continuing Studies offers an array of services to members of the general public, UBC undergraduate and graduate students, community groups and organizations.

Public Lectures

UBC Continuing Studies collaborates with community partners to host public lectures and forums that share perspectives and encourage debate on interdisciplinary topics such as civic responsibility, social justice, health and wellbeing, life and career planning, and sustainability. Many of these lectures are recorded as podcasts to make the content available to a wider audience. View details.

Drop-in Life and Career Support and Counselling

UBC Continuing Studies offers free drop-in advising and support through the Life and Career Volunteer program at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. Trained volunteer associates are available to listen, discuss options and opportunities, and offer referrals to information resources, career assessments, educational programs and other community services. Free counselling with UBC Counselling Psychology graduate students can also be scheduled through an intake and waitlist process. View details.

Writing Tutoring Services

From September to April, the UBC Continuing Studies Writing Centre offers an award-winning tutoring service free for currently-enrolled UBC students. Our peer tutors are very strong writers who undergo extensive training. They provide feedback on your writing assignments, answer your grammar questions, guide you through the writing process, and show you how to format your papers. View details.

Academic English Support

UBC Continuing Studies has introduced a new Academic English Support program designed for current UBC undergraduate and graduate students who use English as an additional language. The free program offers help with reading academic texts, writing more proficiently, listening and taking effective notes, participating more actively in seminars, and speaking more clearly in English. Downtown Centre: Engaging the Community

Drop in to our Downtown Centre learning facilities on the Plaza Level at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver and meet our specialized UBC Continuing Studies staff who can help you choose from our diverse array of courses and programs for career and personal development. We invite organizations, associations and community groups to collaborate with us to provide innovative educational programming and have set aside a series of time slots in our teaching facilities for just this purpose. Computer Lab Rental at UBC Robson Square

UBC Continuing Studies has five computer labs (four PC, one Mac) available for rental at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. The facilities are ideal for employee seminars, computer training, new product launches or showcasing the latest online features in your business. View details.

Customized Programs and Group Discounts

UBC Continuing Studies can customize programs to meet the needs of particular organizations or groups. Examples of popular topic areas include business and technical writing, communication skills enhancement, understanding diversity in the workplace, retirement planning and office technology. We also offer group discounts to employees from the same organization who take a regularly scheduled course. Curriculum Licensing Opportunities for Institutions

UBC Continuing Studies welcomes the opportunity to partner with other institutions to offer programming using our test preparation curriculum. Building on the success of our local GMAT and GRE Test Preparation courses, we have created packages that include course curriculum, instructor recruitment and support and promotional templates.
