The University of British Columbia Continuing Studies provides flexible and innovative educational opportunities for individuals who wish to upgrade their skills for career reasons or explore topics out of general interest. With approximately 20,000 registrations annually, UBC Continuing Studies offers a wide range of programs to local, national and international learners.

Program Unit  
Community Programs History, literature, art, music, architecture and critical thinking: UBC Continuing Studies courses are your gateway to explore new interests or favourite topics. Public affairs lectures are designed to foster knowledge and generate discussion on community issues.
Cultural Planning and Development, Centre for The first programs of the new UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Cultural Planning and Development will be introduced in the spring of 2012. An online graduate certificate and other professional development programs will be designed to expand the capacity for effective cultural planning and development provincially, nationally and internationally.
English Language Institute The UBC English Language Institute has welcomed thousands of students to its ESL programs since it first opened in 1969. Study English with experienced ESL teachers with graduate degrees and specialized training in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
French Centre The UBC Continuing Studies French Centre offers Spring with Canadians (English and French), Explore Summer Language Bursary Programs (English and French) and Summer Institutes in French at UBC and in Quebec City.
Global Academics Global Academics programs are designed to offer international university students the opportunity to experience intercultural communication first-hand and to explore career skills that can give them an advantage in seeking and finding a good job in their chosen field when they return to their home country.
Health, Nutrition and Wellness Our interactive, evidence-based learning opportunities in Health, Nutrition and Wellness share practical tools, resources and proven strategies. Content focuses on personal nutrition and wellness, health and wellness in the workplace, as well as professional development for health and human services professionals.
Intercultural Communication, Centre for The UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Intercultural Communication offers courses and certificate programs that help individuals and organizations engage across cultural differences both locally and internationally, with greater ease and effectiveness.
International Preparatory Programs Our preparatory programs for international students seeking to study at the undergraduate or graduate level at a North American university combine academic and skill-based training for the academic and cultural demands of studying in an international setting.
Languages, Cultures and Travel Learn a language and explore a culture in our conversational courses in over 20 languages. Further enhance your knowledge of world cultures through our interactive culinary and wine arts courses, or while visiting a range of exciting destinations in our travel programs.
Life and Career Programs Access life planning tools to identify personal goals, set priorities, develop action plans and learn about community resources. Open to the general public, our Life and Career Programs provide free drop-in counselling with trained peer counsellors, workshops on life skills, a peer counselling certificate program, personalized career coaching, career testing and other related workshops.
Math Centre The UBC Continuing Studies Math Centre offers non-credit courses intended primarily for UBC students who need to refresh their basic math skills. Non-UBC students who are in Grade 12 or who are over 18 years of age are also welcome.
Sustainability, Centre for The UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Sustainability is a resource to help individuals and organizations develop competencies to effectively manage sustainability initiatives. The Centre leverages UBC expertise in sustainability to create innovative and practical educational programs targeted to lifelong learners, both locally and globally.
Technology, Media and Professional Programs From project management and program management to business analysis, web analytics and social media to integrated marketing strategy, from multimedia to IT certification, our instructors bring a wealth of industry experience and our state-of-the-art computer labs give you access to the latest technologies. Study part- or full-time through classroom or online learning. Over 150 courses and 12 certificate programs are available, most of them at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver.
Test Preparation (GMAT, GRE, LSAT) UBC Continuing Studies GMAT, LSAT and GRE test preparation courses can help you excel on your required entrance exam. Test preparation licensing opportunities are also available for institutions who wish to incorporate test preparation into their educational programming.
Writing Centre Whether it's writing a thesis, freelance articles, children’s books, film scripts or even your own journal, the UBC Continuing Studies Writing Centre has a course for you. Classes are designed to help people improve their writing skills and meet their goals for academic, professional or personal advancement.
