Jeff Young

Graduate, UBC Award of Achievement in Web Analytics

How did you find out about the online Award of Achievement in Web Analytics?
I saw it in this course calendar! I've been working with web statistics for clients and employers for over a decade, and this program gave me a formal foundation to compliment my experience.

What stands out about the program?
The collaborative nature of the discussion board, as well as the unique nature and flexibility of asynchronous online learning.

What's the best part about working in your industry?
One of the most satisfying parts is when a client sees their raw web statistics transformed into useful key performance indicators that they can use for decision making. With smart clients, it's the moment where they recognize the value and power of web analysis, and how they can apply it to business improvement.

What are your career plans?
There's a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that I'm making a positive impact. As well, this is a cutting-edge industry and fresh challenges appear every day.

Words of advice to other students?
While web analytics is ostensibly a technology-oriented function, I found that my business and marketing experience are very complimentary to the process. In fact, web analysis has deep impact on every part of the organization, and it's your job to show your client or company how.
