Planning for Success in International Assignments

This course was formerly called Supporting International Assignments.

This course can be applied to the UBC Certificate in Intercultural Studies and the UBC Award of Achievement in Intercultural Communication.

Businesses, educational institutions, and volunteer organizations are increasingly offering opportunities for employees, students, and volunteers to experience living, studying, and working abroad. In this course, explore components of the international assignment cycle; challenges and success factors; competencies for intercultural effectiveness; and programs to support employees, students, and volunteers throughout their international assignments.

Format

The format of this course is 100% online. One week prior to the start of the course, an email will be sent to all registered students containing instructions on how to access the online Learning Management System.

Requisites

  • Prerequisite courses: (can be taken at the same time) (1 of following)
    • MC501 - Strategies for Effective Intercultural Communication
    • MC503 - Foundations and Skills in Intercultural Communication
    • MD499 - Culture, Communication and Development
